The last several weeks have been absolutely insane.  I have multiple projects in the works (Days of Blight 3, Collaboration with The Architects of Destruction, and prep for upcoming cons) but The Monstrous Lexicon is where most of my attention has been focused.  We are starting to get some art back for the monster manual and had a live stream with one of the artists, Passion Four Drawing (Monstrous Lexicon Live Stream).  We are slowly adding a few more monsters but currently the Monstrous Lexicon sits at 67 new monsters and 4 playable races for Dungeons and Dragon 5e.  I don’t think I have ever had more fun working on a project and Kelsey at The Arcane Library is a big reason for that.   Our collaboration has truly brought out the best in both of us!  Anyway, enough talking, here are a few of the new beasties appearing in the Monstrous Lexicon!

 

 

The Gogmagog!  A legendary giant from Welsh and English myth, we have adapted the big bully for 5e!  The Gogmagog is the cantankerous outcast offspring of a pairing of hill and frost giants.  At CR 9 the Gogmagog is absolutely greater than the sum of its parts.  While most adventuring parties find monsters that walk alone to be a bit of a push over, DM’s will love the Gogmagog for its ability to throw its weight around using its special features and attacks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Epiran Minotaur appears as both a monster and playable race in the Monstrous Lexicon.  Brash and powerful, the glory seeking Epiran Minotaurs seek to test their mettle on the battlefield at every opportunity, often deliberately handicapping themselves to gain respect in the eyes of their brethren.  A second subrace, the Deep Minotaur, is secretive and reserved, often using tactics and subterfuge to win glory.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here we have the concept sketch for the Lupine Wolflord.  Another creature that appears as both a monster and playable race.  When developing the Lupine, Kelsey and I began by studying actual wolf pack behavior and tried to fold as much as of the Way of the Pack into the race as we could.  What developed was a proud and noble race that, when provoked, uses skill and tactics to win the day.

 

 

 

 

 

Pickled Giveaways!

Leading off with the Patreon giveaway, August is my birthday month so I thought I would do something special. First of all, for the month of August, I am going to give access to the next tier reward for each patron. So if you pledge $1, you will get access to the $5 NPC of the month and so on.

Next, I found an old box of metal miniatures just waiting to be primed and painted. Since I don’t have the time, I have decided to do a double giveaway this month! Our Last giveaway, open to all subscribers of the Pickled Dragon Website, also being drawn on August 2nd, is the Temple of Orcus!  Built for my campaign finale, the Temple is constructed from cardstock and cardboard. The design is completely original and assembled by me! It is lightweight, and collapses down for easy storage!
